§ 32.02. CLERK-TREASURER.

  • (A) The Clerk-Treasurer will serve as the City Fiscal Officer and shall serve as the head of the fiscal branch of the city’s government. He or she shall perform the duties set forth in I.C. 36-4-10 and also the following:

    (1) Keep a record of the Council’s proceedings;
    (2) Prepare an ordinance book and compilation of ordinances;
    (3) Retaining charge of city documents and books;
    (‘89 Code)
    (4) Serve as the Secretary of the Board of Public Works and Safety and of the Common Council;
    (5) Keep, maintain and control the written actions of the city pertaining to the Board and Council; and
    (6) Any other duties as may be required by the Board or Council.
    (B) The Clerk-Treasurer is hereby authorized to appoint one Chief Deputy and three deputies pursuant to I.C. 36-4-11-4. The Chief Deputy and deputies of the Clerk-Treasurer shall work under the exclusive direction of the Clerk-Treasurer and shall be paid solely from funds appropriated for the operation of the fiscal branch of the city government unless otherwise provided by an ordinance duly passed and adopted by the Common Council. In the event that the Clerk-Treasurer desires to employ additional deputies, the employment must be approved by form ordinance of the Common Council.
