§ 72.02. STOPPING, STANDING OR PARKING PROHIBITED IN DESIGNATED AREAS.

  • (A) No person shall stop, stand or park a vehicle except when necessary to avoid conflict with other traffic or in compliance with law or the direction of a police officer or traffic-control device, in any of the following places or because of any of the following circumstances:
    (1) On a sidewalk;
    (2) In front of a public or private driveway;
    (3) Within an intersection;
    (4) Within 15 feet of a fire hydrant;
    (5) On a crosswalk;
    (6) Within 20 feet of a crosswalk at an intersection;
    (7) Within 30 feet upon the approach to any flashing beacon, stop sign or traffic-control signal located at the side of a roadway;
    (8) Within 50 feet of the nearest rail of a railroad crossing.
    (9) Alongside or opposite any street excavation or obstruction, when stopping, standing or parking would obstruct traffic;
    (10) On the roadway side of any vehicle stopped or parked at the edge or curb or a street;
    (11) Upon any bridge or other elevated structure upon a highway or within a highway tunnel;
    (12) At any place where official signs, and or (temporary police order or temporary no parking signs) prohibit stopping, standing or parking;
    (13) At any location where the curb or roadway is painted yellow to depict a no parking zone; and
    (14) In any location including an authorized parking space where the parking shall obstruct the visibility for any oncoming traffic from any direction resulting in a hazardous situation for other drivers, a vehicle will be in violation of this code.
    (B) No person shall move a vehicle not lawfully under his or her control into a prohibited area or away from a curb a distance that is unlawful.
