§ 52.002. OBJECTIVES.

  • The objectives of the chapter are as follows:
    (A) To prevent the introduction of pollutants into the city’s wastewater treatment system which will interfere with the operation of the system or contaminate the resultant sludge;
    (B) To prevent the introduction of pollutants into the city’s wastewater system which will pass through the system, inadequately treated, into receiving waters or otherwise be incompatible with the system;
    (C) To promote reuse and recycling of industrial wastewater and sludge from the publicly owned treatment works (POTW);
    (D) To provide for fees assessed for the capacity to treat excess strength wastes; and
    (E) To enable the city to comply with its National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit conditions, sludge use and disposal requirements, and any other federal or state laws to which the POTW is subject.
