§ 72.31. DUTY OF POLICE DEPARTMENT TO REPORT VIOLATIONS.

  • (A) It shall be the duty of Police Department, through the use of police officers or other designated agents of the Department, to report any violations of this chapter to the Chief of Police. The following information shall be reported:
    (1) The number of each parking meter which indicated that the vehicle occupying the parking space adjacent to the parking meter is or has been parked in violation of any of the provisions of this chapter;
    (2) The state license of the vehicle;
    (3) The time at which the violation occurred; and
    (4) Any other facts necessary to a thorough understanding of the circumstances attending the violation.
    (B) Each police officer or designated agent of the Department shall also attach to the vehicle a notice to the owner or operator thereof that the vehicle has been parked in violation of this chapter, and instructing the owner or operator to report at the police station in regard to the violation. The notice shall show the time of the violation.
    (C) Furthermore, the Chief, Deputy Chief and Division Chief of the Fire Department, in addition to police officers, have the right and authority to issue and enforce, by issuing citations, violations of §§ 72.02(A)(4) and 72.02(A)(12) on all public and private schools and hospital properties in order to protect the safety, health and welfare of the residents of the city and their guests.
